This project brings an interactive, playful twist to one of the world’s busiest locations—Times Square. Using a real-time webcam feed from EarthCam.com, virtual presents are overlaid onto the live scene, appearing as if they are dropping into the physical space. This project uses MediaPipe, a gesture recognition program developed by Google, to allow users to control where to drop presents. The presents are 3D objects created in TouchDesigner, with lighting effects influenced by the surrounding billboards.
